Founder of NHP Group — Natwarlal Harjivandas Prajapati — who began with 20,000 bricks made by his own hands and built them into a diversified group.
Born on 13 March 1952 in Shuklatirth, on the banks of the Narmada, Mr. Natubhai H. Prajapati grew up in a family of clay workers. When the joint family split and hard times followed, he left school after the 11th standard to work beside his father, grazing the family's buffaloes, selling their milk to the village cooperative and shaping pots at the wheel.
In 1970, at 18 and against his father's advice, he made and sold 20,000 bricks by himself and stamped each with his initials: NHP. He founded Shubh Laxmi Bricks on his own land in 1975, and even worked six months as an employee at another brick company to learn how to make his bricks stronger. By 1991 it had become Surya Bricks, with three plants.
In 1992 he opened Hotel Harimangla, named after his parents, Harjivandas and Manglaben. In 1993 he founded Jay Jalaram Transportation and drove the trucks himself to understand the business from the ground up. Land trading and, from 2004, farming followed.
As Chairman & Managing Director, he still sets the tone for the Group: learn the work with your own hands, never compromise on quality, and never forget where you came from. Having known hunger as a boy, he has made giving back, through donations and charity across the region, a lifelong commitment.
